what to wear: picnic at the park
If you’re headed to the park for a casual picnic and frisbee toss, here’s something to wear for the shorts-shy gal.
Start with these cotton olive “Captain Trousers” which are cropped and have a 10″ rise. These are non-marmy and perfect for those of you who have a long rise or like just a little more coverage.
Pair it with this pretty tissue ruffled tank in Moroccan Spice. If you plan on staying late and it gets chilly at night, bring along a simple long pocket cardigan such as this one.
If you don’t believe in wearing leather, then these Michael Antonio Dava’s are super cute and for $40 a great sandal that should last the summer.
Or…if you do love your leather, perhaps some flip-flops and this leather saddle bag will do.
Either way, you will look effortlessly chic — especially with these Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses.

completely adorable and very flattering….not to mention comfortable!! I love this outfit cause it is all these things, and very girly also, it is so nice to have a little femininity with your casual stuff. LOVE the moroccan spice color paired with the pants!! The cardigan is perfect, except where I live we use cardigans to stop the flow of blood from all the 40 lb mosquitos we have …..our nights are 80 degrees or better….but the cardigan is still a nice finishing touch. The shoes are very sexy and wearable. A plus. I’m buying this very ensemble, thanks!!
glad to be of service — especially in keeping those 40lb mosquitoes away.
Love the outfit, but the links to the clothes aren’t working for me.
Thanks for letting us know Jenn! We had the same problem last week and saw that it was due to a plug-in so we’ll check again. FYI – it apparently conflicts with IE browsers.
Very nice ideas. I’m def. not a shorts person so I love seeing alternative looks for these summer events!
What a great looking casual outfit!! Will these pants and boyfriend chinos/jeans look good on triangle body types?
Yes, but you will need to tweak the overall outfit a bit Aisha. The ruffle top works but the cardi would need to be changed for a crew neck – no v. The v will minimize your bust and shoulders and you want to accentuate.
Keep it light on top too.
