what to wear: petites – designer denim

Are you familiar with the ‘Lexie’, ‘Dita’ or ‘Provocateur’?

If you are 5’4″ and under, you will love these denim lines designed just for petites!

It’s the classic jeans we love but with shorter inseams and higher knee breaks to elongate petite figures.  Inseams ranging from 30-32″, fall about 2-4″ shorter than regular length jeans.

At 5’2″, I can wear the Joe’s Provocateur line with flats or heels depending on the style.

A few more tips on elongating a petite figure:

  • Wear monochromatic colors throughout your entire outfit; from your tops to your shoes. Avoid a color break.
  • Straight leg jeans will give the illusion of a longer silhouette.
  • Wear heels and a longer hem that comes close to hitting the floor.

  1. I am 5’3 and long waisted, would I follow this rule too??

  2. I love both the Provocateur and Lexi. I haven’t tried the Dita. I’m 5’1″, wear pretty high heels, and still have to have these jeans shortened. However, it’s still totally worth getting these petite cuts because my legs definitely look better with the higher knee break. Thanks for the petites post!

  3. Yes! Use the above tips to lengthen your legs, and the following to shorten your long torso:

    - wear a cropped jacket or sweater in a monochromatic color
    - focus on neckline details, such as a detailed collar or necklace to draw the eye upward
    - look for tops with set-in waistlines or empire waist styles to break up the space
