what to wear: holiday parties
With party season in full gear, you may find yourself attending a company holiday party, hitting a friend’s house for some casual holiday cheer, or going to see the Nutcracker with the family. Wherever this holiday season finds you, you want to have a few great go-to pieces that you can easily mix and match with your existing wardrobe to create some festive outfits.
One piece that seems to be forgotten until the last minute is a jacket or warm wrap. By adding this faux fur jacket by Joie, you can easily dress it up for going out, or go for the boho-chic vibe and pair it with jeans and boots during the day. It’s extremely versatile and even nips in at the waist to show your curves.
We may all have a black dress in our wardrobes but something more colorful like this red satin sheath dress is perfect for a company party or going to see a holiday concert or play. Pair it with this great “Dynasty” necklace from Banana Republic. You can go bare-legged with your black patent peep-toes or if you’re like me and tend to freeze at the word “cold” then wear these Robert Clergerie black heels with some black opaque (non see-through) tights. On sale in limited sizes.
For more casual affairs, it’s good to have one sparkly or pretty-colored top to pair with your black pants or some great dark-wash jeans (depending on the event.) The sequin tank is found everywhere this season but they’re already selling out so you’ll want to act quickly. Try JCrew’s sequin tank in a flattering skintone color or the Gryphon Metal Sequin Tank (shown.) We couldn’t resist pairing it with the perfect bag, Tory Burch’s Holland Satchel — perfect enough to be added to that wish list, no?

Many of us can’t wear sleeveless tops & the fur jacket looks hot and adds weight to an outfit.
The jacket is meant to keep you warm on a winter day and I would certainly take it off when you arrive at your destination. And, I couldn’t agree with you more about having arm issues — it is the main gripe I have with fashion designers — we need sleeves for holiday wear. I would add a cute cardigan to cover up the arms.
