not even celebrities get it right

Granted, we don’t typically have to wear a new outfit  every night so we don’t have to stress as much about the dreaded “what to wear” question.  But you should feel comforted to know that even if a celebrity has the ability to utilize a personal stylist, they still make mistakes.  Case in point:  Debra Messing.  A perfect (yet tiny!) hourglass figure.

An hourglass shape is defined if the breasts and hips are at least 8-10″ bigger than the natural waist.  Additionally, the shoulders need to be the same width as the hips.  Fit tips for those with an hourglass shape are to show what you got (if you want) but always ensure you look proportioned — so if you’re going to visually widen the shoulder line, ensure that you are balancing it out at the bottom with an Aline or gored skirt, etc. What Debra is wearing on the left is pretty good:  great color for her, flattering to her silhouette……..but the proportion is off — her skirt is too long and it makes her look like she has short legs.  The best hem for most gals is right below the knee.  The worst?  Right where Debra’s skirt hits — at the widest part of the calf.

And the photo on the left shows what can happen when the stylist falls asleep.
