how to wear: dress monochromatically
Last week I covered 15 items you should have in your wardrobe for Spring that make over 20+ looks — 47 to be exact. Using the items from the 15 items wardrobe, I wanted to show you two outfits that utilize the concept of wearing one color – aka dressing monochromatically.
When you wear one color, you immediately add more polish to your look. I do want to dispel the myth about needing to have your colors match perfectly though. Matching exactly really only matters if the colors are the same value. When you wear different values of one color, you don’t have to worry at all. (Value means light to dark.)
Aqua outfit: Utilizing items #4 (Lanston Sheer Jersey Tie Neck Top, $96) and #7 (Nordstroms’ Halogen ‘Taylor’ Pants or Weekend MaxMara cropped pants), we create a simple yet still fun look due to the aqua color. Just add the super fabulous Sam Edelman’s Gigi t-strap sandals in cobalt/aqua/citrine, $65. The shoes make it fun and add an updated twist.
Gray outfit: More subdued and polished because of the color choice, this look utilizes items #5 (Marc by Marc Jacobs pointelle top, $149) and #2 (Vince Twill Boyfriend Pants, $195). You can add the coral t-straps from the 15 item series or a simple gray wedge if you want to continue the monochromatic look all the way through.
For both outfits, try this cool Lucky “Topanga Canyon” Crossbody bag in grey suede, $96.
