how to wear: 15 items, 20+ looks for spring – part 3
In Part 1 and Part 2, I took you through the first 8 items that created 16 looks. Today, we’re looking at some more casual pieces that can work for non-dresscode workplaces or simply the weekend. The great part about this is that I’ve added in some coral and orange — which is the color of the year per Pantone — and a color that is also everywhere in stores.
9. A 3/4-sleeve tunic. Something lightweight and loose but still comes in a bit at the bust to show that you have a figure! This Splendid Mixed Media Shirt in navy, $88, can be worn as shown, belted or open. Just be sure to wear a tank underneath as it’s a little sheer.
10. A striped or color-blocked dress. There are lots of cute dresses out there (check our Facebook page for more inspiration!) but I couldn’t resist this ode to the candy-striper dress. With a surplice bodice, it’s perfect for those who are large busted. Plenty by Tracy Reese – linen stripe dress, $218.
11. Straight-leg jeans. My favorite go-to straight leg jean that comes in some great washes (aka colors) is the Kimmie Curvy fit by 7 For All Mankind, $169. It has a 8.5″ rise – not too frumpy. Another great option for those of you that have a bit more curves and require a tad higher rise is the Marilyn Straight Leg Classic by Not Your Daughters Jeans , $98.
12. A colorful blazer. A great stylish blazer in a skin flattering color is the perfect addition to a wardrobe full of neutrals. Try this Katie Blazer by Line & Dot in Coral, $89 – it works with tons of colors from brown to white to navy!
For accessories, who can resist a super cool smoky topaz ring and cute t-strapped color-blocked sandal in tan and coral?? The ring shown is at Scarlet Samples, $65, and the t-straps are Bandolino’s Positive sandal, $59.
Total Looks = 16: 11+9, 11+9+12, 11+1+12, 11+4+8, 11+5+12, 11+5+8, 11+1+8, 2+1+12, 2+9, 2+1+9 (open), 2+5+12, 7+9, 1+7+12, 7+8+9, 10+12, 10+8
So now we’re at 32 looks and we still have 3 more items to go! Essentially we’ve created over a months worth of outfits out of 12 items.
+++++

What kind of dress would you recommend for the 40+ busy mom with a rectangle body.
ANY of the color blocked dresses that are a thick jersey or gabardine. Look at some of the cute sheath dresses at Nordstroms. This is one that would be perfect for you Nicole: http://www.wardrobe911.com/bn4
I’m loving the corals that I’m seeing both for fashion and for interiors!
Do you have a straight leg recommendation for rectangle. The Kimmie does not work for me.
I would try JBrands 14″ leg.
I would like the topaz ring.
I love your 15 items posts! Thanks for doing them! I was wondering what blazer length would be good for a 5″4′-5″5′ size gal. When I try on longer blazers they usually just end up looking frumpy.
For some reason I can only see 2 comments to this post unless I post a comment, then I can see them all.
