My mission as your Personal Stylist and Image Consultant is to bring out the best possible ‘you’……not a cookie cutter approach to how you ‘should’ dress, but a clear understanding of your unique style, taste and image. I believe our image should express our individuality and personality, while reflecting our understanding and respect for the unwritten codes of dress in our society, culture and business worlds.
I’ve been involved in fashion, clothing and beauty my entire career! I first learned to sew and create my own clothing when I was 10 years old which ignited a lifelong passion for fashion. My grandmother worked for a European courtier in the 1930’s and her stories of the models, fashion shows and the unique clients she worked with inspired and excited me. My career has reached from cosmetics and beauty advertising and marketing with Estee Lauder Cosmetics to Fashion Design; and most recently a successful career in Costume Design for film. My work as a Fashion Stylist and Assistant Costume Designer in the film industry has given me the opportunity to work with many celebrities and actors, creating unique costumes and outfits. I have worked on a great variety of projects, most recently ‘Scott Pilgrim Versus the World’; ‘Amelia’; ‘Grey Gardens’ and the Academy Award winning ‘Chicago’.
I love the opportunity to use the skills I’ve developed in my costume and film work to help professional women and men realize their best possible image and achieve their fashion, style and beauty goals. It is an amazing feeling and rewarding experience to know that I have a made a difference in my client’s lives through my consultations, coaching and seminars.

There was a long agenda awaiting image consultant Cori Burchell when she walked through my front door. I was tired of my cluttered closet, buying pieces that never seemed to go together, or that were similar to something I already owned. I was frustrated by not being able to make outfits work or finding the right looks for me for all the different aspects of my life. The fit of my clothing was another issue – my short waist and arms and largish bust put me at a disadvantage for many of the latest fashion trends that flatter a slim boyish figure.

She took pictures of these outfits, piled clothing in groups that worked together, and organized my closet in a way that would make dressing myself easier and fun. I now have a reference booklet to browse through whenever I can’t decide what to wear and which also reminds me of what I learned. Cori’s wealth of knowledge, flavoured with a good sense of humour and professional demeanor was all I needed to clear up my wardrobe woes in a fun and effortless way. I find it difficult to deal with change. So I’m not really sure where I got the confidence to follow through with my self-imposed makeover. Having been inspired by the show What Not To Wear, I researched Toronto’s fashion consultants through Google before finally deciding to have Cori Burchell help me achieve my goals.
