early-spring shoe roundup
With temperatures dipping and many of us finding ourselves sitting in front of the fireplace bundled up, it’s best to do a little visualization to perk your spirits up.
Close your eyes and think of a beautiful warm spring day. You are walking with a friend and both enjoying the late-morning air as the birds sing and the sun streams down on you. You are wearing your fun and sassy new shoes that you’ve been dying to wear on a day like this — inspiration courtesy of Wardrobe 911!
The shoes for early spring are still strappy, patent and full of color. Lots of yummy patent peep-toes and ballet flats are coming out in easter egg colors. The strappy platform (best suited for evening wearings if your dress code doesn’t allow) is still thriving and if you’ve been averse to this look, you might want to try them on and take them for a spin. They are uber sexy and even look great paired with a dark or colorful tight – not hose – in winter. (Nude hose with a sandal is never good.)
Wedges are still fashionable and come in various materials from cork to wood to raffia. Get them in a natural color for easy versatility with all your colorful skirts and dresses. This is one wardrobe essentials must-have for a spring wardrobe.
As shown (from left to right for various budgets):
Top Row: Wedges
- Proenza Schouler covered heel – half wedge, half heel, super cool
- Elie Tahari Arielle wedge espadrille
- Nine West stacked wedge
Middle Row: Patent Flats
Bottom Row: Strappy Platforms
- Nine West Snooks – such a deal!
- L.A.M.B. Tasha platform
- Stuart Weitzman platform – in black nappa or patent

Could I wear the AK Anne Klein ballet flats with the grey denim skirt from OldNavy in the other post although it has a round toe and with the same bag?
Hi Nicole — The yellow flats with the denim pencil skirt outfit would look fun and playful. If you are going for a more sophisticated/sleek look, try a pointier-toe flat.
