I have a special place in my heart for the 15 items series and so I thought, “What better place to start back with you, then to do a fun take on summer looks.”
It's also partly selfish as I'm a fairly recent transplant to beautiful San Diego. Trying to figure out what to wear (and still look decent) in the hot weather was a challenge at first, but I've found lots of inspiration here in SD so I'm ready to share. Here's the first four items which hopefully provide some inspiration for what to add to your casual wardrobe for those 80-degree days.
1. Print Maxi Dress. These can be such a god-send because they are typically light-weight and still keep you cool and cute. There are so many prints to choose from but I picked this Paisley Print Jersey Maxi Dress, $88, which comes in regular and petite sizes. It can be worn to a very casual BBQ or out for drinks with friends.
2. Denim Shorts. These are a big trend and so easy to pair various tops and jackets with. If you love wearing shorts and have great legs, a 5″ inseam is usually just short enough but not too short. Most of the denim shorts out there are super expensive so if you're brave, cut some of your old jeans and make your own. Otherwise, there's these cuffed denim shorts for $68.
3. Lightweight White Top. When it's hot, you want to wear light colors and sleeveless tops…it's just uncomfortable to think about wearing sleeves. I'm always on the lookout for cute, interesting, summery tops and this Velvet by Graham & Spencer Ivie Tank Top ($86) is just the perfect top for building your wardrobe on.
4. Fun hi-lo Top in a Pretty Color. It is so much fun to wear color because people tend to notice and compliment you more. The BCBGMAXAZRIA Double Strap Wrap Top is shorter in the front and longer in the back and is perfect for all body types. The back has pretty cutout — definitely not boring!
And although not part of the 15 items, we can't do without some strappy Tan Wedge Sandals that look great with both the shorts and the maxi.
Total Outfits = 3. 1, 2+3, 2+4.
